This web site is designed to provide information to those interested in officiating high school athletics. High school interscholastic contests that require officials are baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, swimming, track and field, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Officials must be certified by an approved officials association and assigned to the contests by that association. Associations must be accredited by the State CIF and designated by the CIF Section to provide officials for their contests. Officials are required to attend a minimum of eighteen hours training each year in each sport they officiate. Officials in the CIF Southern Section may not be attending a CIF Southern Section school.
Dues and fees are required when joining an officials association and these vary according the requirements of each association. Officials Associations also require that all officials carry liability insurance to cover their officiating activities. Most home owners insurance policies DO NOT cover this activity. Insurance can be obtained through some national officiating groups such as the National Association of Sports Officials and the National Federation of State High School Associations. Links to those groups are provided on this web site.
Information for specific officiating groups can be obtained from web site links provided here and/or contacting the persons listed with each sport via e-mail.
